I stumbled upon ceramics around 9 years ago when I joined a lovely art centre in a local town,
I started by doing a midweek class which soon escalated to 2 then 3 a week,
Then a little workshop in our home garden was cleared and that’s where my husband created a small studio for me to work from,
He then brought me a lovely kiln who’s known to me as kit.
I love to do commission pieces and have been very fortunate of late to be able to do quite a few,
The thing with clay & me is that it seems to take me to another place in my mind,
Somewhere that I can escape all the pressures that life can throw at us, I’m remarkable lucky to have such a supportive husband & family who have encouraged me to express myself through clay,
Hand building is a real passion of mine as I feel I can express myself through my work,
I’ve also attended a sculpture class in Cambridge which had me hooked,
I like to push myself to try as many things with clay as possible,
I really think everyone should try as it’s very therapeutic & a calming process that takes me far away.
My inspiration comes from a lot of everyday things and just observation of my surroundings ♥️
